Comparison Between Tata Altroz vs Hyundai Elite i20?

Compare the 2020 Tata Altroz with Hyundai Elite i20 (XZ vs Asta variant) petrol and diesel engine power, transmission, features, dimensions, etc.

For a very long time, the Hyundai i20 has been the go-to choice of buyers in the premium hatchback space. Now, we have the new 2020 Tata Altroz to challenge the i20. Let’s see how its top variant compares with the i20 (XZ vs Asta variant comparison). Let’s see which car has better bigger dimensions, size, engine, power, transmission and features.

In terms of dimensions, the Tata Altroz XZ has a slight advantage as it has longer, wider and taller body. It also has a much bigger boot than the i20 – 345 litres. But, the Hyundai i20 Asta has a slightly better ground clearance and much better wheelbase. I20’s wheelbase is 2570mm compared to the Altroz’ wheelbase of just 2501mm.

The petrol engine of the Tata Altroz and Hyundai Elite i20 is similar in displacement – 1.2-litre. The Altroz has 3PS more power output but the i20 makes 2Nm of extra torque. The Altroz has only 113Nm of torque but it comes at 3300rpm whereas the i20’s 115Nm of torque comes at 4000rpm. So, the Altroz should be easier to drive in the city traffic situation. Both cars have a 5-speed manual transmission. But, the i20 also has a CVT type automatic transmission option with the petrol engine.

The diesel engine is 1.5-litre in the Tata Altroz XZ but the i20’s diesel engine is only 1.4-litre. Still, the two cars make similar power output of 90PS. The Hyundai Elite i20 Asta diesel has 220Nm of torque while the Altroz has only 200Nm of torque. The i20 also has a 6-speed manual transmission while the Altroz only has a 5-speed manual transmission.

The feature list of the Elite i20 Asta and the Altroz XZ has a lot of common features like projector headlamps, DRLs, front armrest, rear AC vents, automatic AC, keyless entry and push-button start/stop, etc. But there are also differences. Both cars also have some unique features that aren’t available in the other cars’ top variant

2020 Tata Altroz Rival Maruti Suzuki Baleno Comparison?

Tata Altroz comparison with Maruti Suzuki Baleno (XZ vs Alpha variant) comparison based on dimensions, size, engine, transmission, power, features for petrol and diesel.

The new Tata Altroz is trying to set the new benchmark in the premium hatchback segment. Tata is calling the Altroz gold standard and to go with the name, it’s also available in gold colour option. Let’s put that claim to test by comparing the top variant of Altroz with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno’s top variant (Altroz XZ vs Baleno Alpha). We need to compare the dimensions, engine, transmission, power, torque and feature for both petrol and diesel engines.

In dimensions, both cars are very closely matched. But, the Tata Altroz comes out on top with a slightly wider and taller body. Although it has a smaller wheelbase and slightly less ground clearance. The boot space is comparable as the Altroz XZ has 345-litre boot space while the Baleno has 339 litres of boot capacity.

In the petrol engine comparison, the Tata Altroz has 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque from a 1.2-litre engine. The Maruti Baleno has 83PS and 113Nm so, the Altroz has a slight advantage. But it has a better advantage in terms of torque delivery. Its torque comes early at 3300rpm. So it should be easier to drive the Tata Altroz petrol in the city because the Baleno’s torque comes at 4200rpm. So, Maruti Baleno’s petrol engine is good for enjoyable driving characteristics.

Both cars have a 5-speed manual transmission. But Baleno also has a CVT automatic option.

The diesel engine of the Tata Altroz is a good option again because of its low-end torque delivery. It makes 90PS of power, 15PS more than Baleno diesel. It also makes 200Nm of torque from 1250rpm to 3000rpm. The Baleno only has 190Nm of torque at 2000rpm. With the diesel engine, both cars only have a 5-speed manual transmission.

The 2020 Tata Altroz has a good list of features which are not available in Baleno. Similarly, the Baleno has some features that aren’t available in Altroz.

Renault Triber vs Hyundai Venue: Specification Comparison

The Renault Triber made its global debut in India in June 2019, and it is likely to launch in August. While Renault is yet to open the Triber’s bookings, the carmaker has already revealed its specifications. In this report, we compare the Triber’s exterior dimensions and engine specifications with those of the Hyundai Venue.

While the Venue won’t be a direct rival to the Triber, it is expected that the base-spec Venue will be in the same price range as the top-spec Triber. Since the Triber is a sub-4m seven seater vehicle, it doesn’t have many direct rivals. The Venue is a five-seater sub-compact SUV that rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon.

Dimensions comparison: Triber’s long wheelbase should be its USP!

The Renault Triber is not the longer and wider car in this comparison, but it is taller than the Venue. It remains to be seen which of the two cars is more spacious, but the Venue could be the one that may seat three in relatively more comfort since it is the wider of the two.

Triber’s speciality lies in its long wheelbase, which may free up more room in the Triber’s cabin compared to the Venue. Triber has the bigger boot of the two cars and given that multiple seating configurations are also possible, it should be the more utilitarian car of the two.

Powertrain comparison: Seven seat Triber’s 1.0-litre engine raises some questions

There are two petrol engine options available with the Venue — 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated unit and 1.0-litre, turbocharged. The turbo-petrol engine is the one that is not available in the base variant, and it is also more expensive than the 1.2-litre unit in the S variant. Therefore, this comparison should ideally be between the Venue’s 1.2-litre unit and the Triber’s 1.0-litre engine.

Real Also – Renault Triber vs Maruti Suzuki Swift: Specification Comparison

Between these engines, the Venue’s 1.2-litre unit is more powerful. But it is not available with an automatic transmission. Triber’s 1.0-litre engine will be available with both manual and automatic transmission options, however, it remains to be seen if it is adequately powerful to haul the car with seven passengers on board.

Should you wait for the Triber or buy the Venue?

If space, utility and style are the key attributes that you look for in your next car then it will be worth waiting for the Triber and taking a decision when you see both the cars in person. The Venue would win hands down if features, style and performance is what you want.

Tata Harrier With Black Exterior & Interior Might Come Soon

Tata Motors has showcased the Harrier mid-size SUV at its 2019 annual general meeting in black exterior paint. Tata does not offer the Harrier in black colour as of now. However, it looks like the manufacturer will soon start selling the mid-size SUV that rivals the likes of the MG Hector and Jeep Compass in black colour.

Tata Harrier

Apart from the new exterior colour, the showcased Harrier also featured a black interior with a silver element on the dashboard. At present, only the lower XE and XM variants of the Harrier get an all-black cabin, but these don’t get the silver finish on the dashboard.

The Harrier that was showcased with the black-silver cabin was equipped with terrain response modes, which are exclusively available in the Harrier XZ right now. So, while it remains to be seen whether Tata would offer black colour on the Harrier across the lineup, it is certain that the variant that was showcased was either XZ or another new variant that would feature amongst the top variants in terms of equipment on offer.

On the outside, apart from the black exterior colour, the showcased Harrier did not get chrome inserts on door handles and ORVMs, like the top-spec Harrier XZ. It also featured black skid plates at the front and the rear instead of the silver painted ones on the regular model. The alloy wheels were also done in dark grey instead of silver.

It remains to be seen if the black Harrier will come as a special edition model, a new variant, or just a paint option on the regular Harrier. At present, the Harrier is available in four variants with prices ranging from Rs 13 lakh to Rs 16.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Harrier is available with just a diesel-manual powertrain.

Skoda Kodiaq RS revealed just prior debut at Paris MotorShow

Ending a lot of speculations and long wait, Skoda has finally introduced the new Skoda Kodiaq RS. The Kodiaq RS is really special, as the model packs in the most powerful diesel engine that Skoda has ever endowed in any production model in its history.

While speaking about the new Skoda Kodiaq RS, Skoda head Bernhard Maier called the model the “new spearhead” in their SUV lineup, as it the very first SUV to flaunt the high performance vRS badge in Skoda’s lineup.

The new Skoda Kodiaq RS will come in both five and seven seat configurations. The performance-oriented SUV comes with a handful of subtle styling changes in order to mark it apart from the regular model. It gets exclusive bolder looking front and rear bumpers, several styling elements finished in sporty gloss black, newly designed 20 inch alloys and of course, RS badges. The Kodiaq RS also introduces the new RS logo, featuring a red V and stripe ahead of the RS, replacing the green colour of the outgoing logo. This new RS insignia will be replacing the current logo on all the future RS vehicles from the house of Skoda.

On the inside, the Kodiaq RS also offers premium and sporty features, which includes Alcantara seat upholstery and door trims as a standard offering, instrument panel with a faux carbon fibre effect, LED ambient lighting system, a sports steering wheel, sporty stainless steel pedals, tinted windows and black roof lining. These features help in further differentiating the Kodiaq RS from the standard SUV counterpart.

There are more to the sporty SUV’s cabin, which includes Skoda’s Virtual Cockpit system as standard that offers a personalized display mode that shows a rev counter and speed in the centre of the display.

However, the real deal of the Kodiaq RS obviously lies under its hood. The performance SUV gets powered by a 2.0 litre bi-turbocharged direct injection diesel motor, which is capable of churning out a max power output of 240 hp along with 500 Nm of peak torque in the range of 1,750 to 2,500 rpm.

The engine has been paired to a refined 7 speed dual-clutch transmission which sends the generated power to all the four wheels of the vehicle with the help of a variable all-wheel drive. The Kodiaq RS will also boast of the dynamic sound boost, which is a first time offering in any Skoda model. The sporty SUV also gets endowed with an adaptive chassis control that includes 6 drive modes. There are also electronically adjusted shock absorbers as well as a progressive steering system, all of which are offered as part of the standard package.

As per Skoda, the Kodiaq RS, despite being a big SUV is capable of doing the 0-100 kmph sprint in just 7 seconds. It offers a top speed of 220 kmph. The hot SUV has recorded the Nürburgring run in 9min 29.84sec, which is a lap record for a seven-seater full-sized SUV. It is only 1min 38:14sec behind than the famed Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, which is the current SUV lap record holder. When the Indian car market is concerned, there’s yet no word about the Skoda Kodiaq RS launching here, while the standard Kodiaq is available in a single Style trim in India tagged at Rs. 34.84 lakhs. However, as the Octavia RS is available in India priced at Rs. 27.00 lakh, we are certainly hopeful that Skoda will bring in the Kodiaq RS in our market as well.
